The R.M. of North Norfolk accepts cheques, cash & electronic payments only.
Please note that electronic payments and payments made at financial institutions can take up to 4 days to be received by the Municipality.
Taxes - The Rural Municipality of North Norfolk tax year runs from January 1st to December 31st each year. If taxes are paid by July 31st you will receive a discount of 1% on current amount. Taxes are due September 30th of each year.
The Municipality accepts post dated cheques and encourages you to mail or drop off your payments in advance to ensure they are received on time. If you wish to make monthly payments, please contact the office directly.
Please check your tax statement to see if you are receiving the Manitoba Education Property Tax advance credit. The credit can only be claimed on your primary residence. If you are eligible for the credit, please bring your statement and your social insurance number to the Municipal office and we would be happy to help you complete the credit application form.
If you have sold your property it is very important for you to forward the Tax Statements to your lawyer. This will ensure that the new owner will receive the Tax Statement.
Have you applied for for your Farmland School Tax Rebate? The forms are available on line at www.gov.mb.ca/farmland. If you need assistance filling these forms, please contact the Municipal office. You may apply for the rebate up to three years after the taxes were due.
Tax Penalties: A penalty of 1% (per month) 12% per annum will be added to all unpaid taxes after the due date, and a like penalty on the 1
st day of each and every month thereafter until paid. Tax arrears and penalties must be paid in full before payment can be applied to current taxes. Properties in arrears of taxes for more than one year may be sold for taxes.
Water Penalties: All connected customers shall be billed quarterly and payment shall be due and payable at least 20 days after the mailing of the invoices. A late payment charge of 1.25% per month will be charged on the dollar amount owing after the billing due date and a notice to this effect shall be clearly printed on all bills sent out. Please note, any unpaid water bills at the end of the calendar year will be added to the property taxes. The owner of the property will be responsible for payment. Please ensure the office is aware of any address or name changes.
