Austin Cemetery: Gossip in the Graveyard Historical Walking Tour

Austin Cemetery

Gossip in the Graveyard Historical Walking Tour

NOW EVERY FOURTH SUNDAY IN JUNE….

The Austin Cemetery has hosted Gossip in the Graveyard since September2021. Every year fresh stories of pioneers are presented on the historical walking tour of the cemetery, telling of the trials and successes of those interred there. In 2025 the Cenotaph (War Memorial) is 100 years old. In its honour the stories on the tour will focus on the effects of wars; some good, some sad, and surprisingly not just about warfare! This includes the Spanish flu, war brides, the beginning of the Manitoba Agricultural Museum and more!

Look for displays courtesy of the North Norfolk MacGregor Archives and the Manitoba Agricultural Museum, as well as a surprise demonstration! Please come at 1:30 (set up under the spruce trees by the Cenotaph) on June 22 to interact with our guests and join the walking tour at 2pm.

It’s not scary and there may be a giggle or two…for sure you will learn more about Austin’s past with “history at the top of the hill”!
